My Diamond Candle Review & Ring Pictures

I've been seeing posts about Diamond Candles going across my Facebook wall like crazy the last few weeks, and knew right away I had to have one.  Diamond Candles are candles with a little something special.  After burning down a bit, you find a ring hidden in the wax that you pull out and wear.  It has a lottery aspect to it because the ring could be worth anywhere for about $10 to $5000.  These cost $24.95 plus $5.00 shipping per candle.  I lucked out and got it for $12 plus shipping through a Plum District deal that's no longer active, but you can get a code for $5 off if you go through my LINK HERE before July 12th.   If someone buys from my link, I believe I have the option of buying another candle at five bucks off too.

I ordered the scent Strawberry Bliss early on Thursday morning and it was on my porch on Saturday. Two days!!!  First whiff it wasn't super strong but it smelled nice.  About fifteen minutes into burning the smell got stronger and it was delightful!  It made my whole living room smell so freakin good!

There's a gold sticker you can see from the outside that shows you about where the ring is placed in the candle.

The picture above shows how far it was melted one hour from when I lit it. About 2 1/2 hours into it I got impatient and dumped the melted wax out to speed up the process.  Then I let it melt a little longer and dumped the wax again.  Doing this obviously wastes a few inches of your candle and cuts down on your total burn time, but dammit I wanted that ring!!!

The foil finally peeking out!  I should have let it melt down even more, but I was desperate to see what kind of ring I was getting.

I forced it out with some Victorian absinthe sugar tongs.  I knew when I found these I would need them someday!  That day was today!

And there's my ring in a waxy baggie.

I didn't strike gold or diamonds like I was hoping, but I have to admit that this is a really pretty costume ring. The inside is stamped "China".  It doesn't fit my chubby man sized girl fingers, but still it's very pretty and I'm sure one of my kids or my sister will end up talking me out of it and will love wearing it.  It did succeed it getting me sucked into loving these candles.  I've had an obsession with Yankee Candles in the past purely because they smelled so good.  These smell amazing and you get a ring and the possibility of a better ring for the same price.  I hope to get more of these and hope I eventually do get lucky with one.

Friday, June 29, 2012 Geo Medical Bella Violet Pictures & Review

Liz came over a few weeks ago talking all about and how she ordered three new pairs of colored contacts for about $50 total after watching several great Youtube reviews on them.  She used a promo they were running on the site where if you purchased two pairs, you got a third random pair free.  I've always wanted purple eyes myself so I ordered a single pair because I didn't want to sink $50 into it because I've never had contacts and was pretty unsure. After shipping it ran me about $25 for a single pair.

They took a few weeks to arrive and came registered mail from Malaysia in a padded envelope that I had to sign for.  Inside the envelope was this cute little box with the bear on it and a contact case shaped like purple elephants.

I saved my box to reuse when I ship something out!

Each contact comes in it's own sealed glass vial.

The pair I ordered was Geo Medical Bella Violet for $19.90.

I cleaned out my new contact case and added my own contact solution.  I got that solution for free with coupons a few months back because I knew someone would need them eventually.  Didn't know it would be me!

I removed the contacts from the vials with a clean q-tip.  They came right out and I put them in my solution to soak for awhile to remove any germs just in case.

It took me a little practice but I got them in my eye after a few attempts. This tutorial I found helped me out.  It was really weird touching my own eyeballs without blinking. It also felt a lot like I had something stuck in my eye, but I adapted to them a lot quicker then I expected.

And here they are in my eyes.  You can see a lot of my natural color in the center, but the black outer ring made me look a little bit like a vampire from a distance, which is alright by me.  I love how they look and the idea that I can change the look and color of my eyes anytime I'd like.  I wouldn't wear these on a daily basis because they aren't prescription so some risk is involved, but I'll defiantly wear these now and then for fun.  I think next time I get a pair I'm going for the purple Hello Kitty ones!

Diamond Candles $12

I've been seeing so much online about these lately and they seem like such a fun idea.  Diamond Candles are just that...candles but they are special.  You burn it for a while and as the wax melts down you'll find a little gold foil pouch in it.  Dig it out, open it up and find a ring inside.  That alone sounds pretty fun, but there's more!  It's kind of like a lottery.  The ring you find inside can be valued anywhere from $10 to $5000!!!  Looking at pictures and videos I've found online odds are you'll get a $10 ring but all that I've seen are really pretty for costume rings.  These candles are normally $25 but through Friday 6/29 you can get a voucher to get one for only $15.  Use the discount code SUMMER20 at checkout to bring it down even more to $12! I've been really wanting to try this so I think I'm going to be getting one of these (and reviewing it when it comes) while it's so cheap to do so. So if you've been itching to try these like I have, now's the time!  Grab it HERE.  Just look for the picture of the two candles mixed in with the other deals going on right now at Plum District.

6/28 edit to add: I bought one of these today and used the voucher.  It worked immediately after and flawlessly.  I did have to pay $5 shipping on the candle on making the grand total $17.  Normal price without this deal is $24.95 plus $5 shipping for a total  of $29.95.  Pretty sweet deal in my opinion for something I really wanted to try out!

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturizing Cream GIVEAWAY!!!

Jurlique recently sent me some products to try from the Rose Moisture Plus line, and I'm starting to fall in love with it!  The rose smell is amazing, and I recently learned from snooping around on the Jurlique website that they grow and harvest their own roses in the Adelaide hills of Australia.  How cool is that???

This rose moisture plus cream is a antioxidant rich protecting moisturizer.  It's designed to help address the signs of dehydration and premature aging. It's really easy to use.  You just warm a small amount in your fingers and rub on your face and neck.

Somehow I ended up with two tubes of this moisturizing cream.  One I'm keeping all to myself, and one I'm giving away to one reader so that they can see for themselves just how nice this line is and how great it smells.  It retails for $42, but this is your chance to score one free!

To enter just use the Rafflecopter form below.  There are lots of options for entering and each one you do gets you a single entry.  The more you do, the more entry's you get!   This giveaway is only open to US residents (so I save on shipping). Good luck!

Indie Lee "The Cleanser".  I'm getting a good little collection of Indie Lee products going from my Beauty Army boxes.

La Fresh Oil-Free Face Cleanser.  I really like the La Fresh line.  I wish the sample included more then a single wipe though!

M.A.D. Eye Defense Shielding Serum

NYX Pin-Up Tease Mascara Full size!!!!

And that's what I got! I was really happy to get a full size item and the fact that it's both a makeup item and a NYX item is double score! Hope to get more makeup options next month's Beauty Army box.

My June 2012 MyGlam Bag

My June MyGlam came in the mail today and after a few months that were kind of "meh" to me, I'm really liking this months!

The theme this month was "Out all night" and came in a gold glitter bag. Here's what I got inside..

Living proof no frizz styling cream.  This is a really nice size for a sample item at 2 oz.  The full sizes start at 4 oz's for $26.  I have naturally curly (frizzy) hair, so this is totally something I'll use.

NYX Lip Smacking Fun Colors in "Orange Soda".  This is full size!  This is probably not a color I would have purchased on my own, but having it in hand I kinda like it! I think it will create a nice nude look, and I do love NYX.

philosophy take a deep breath.  0.4 fl oz.  This is a brand spanking new product from philosophy that I blogged about a free sample offering just yesterday.  I'm glad to get to try it out so quickly after it's release. It also came with the coupon code fresh5 for free ground shipping on Code good thru 7/15/12.

Marbella Permanent Eyeliner pen.  I went looking for this online because I had to know what they meant exactly by permanent.  According to the website this is waterproof and smudge-proof and lasts up to 24 hours or until you remove it with makeup remover.  Awesome!  I love black eyeliner so I hope this works out well.  This is a full size item and it retails for $19.

I'm happy with this months bag!  The items are relevant to me and there were 2 full size items this month.  This months bag is worth it's $10 price tag several times over.  Reminds me of the first few bags we got which were a lot better then what we have been getting lately. This bag restored my interest in the service!

July 2012 Birchbox Will Partner With Glamour For A Five Senses of Summer Box

Looks we like are in store for another themed Birchbox in July!  Birchbox is partnering with Glamour magazine to create a "five senses of summer" themed box.  They have already mentioned the names stila, Color Club, Alterna, and Oscar de la Renta as a few of the possible brands we might get. The last themed box was a Gossip Girl partnership and most subscribers including myself were less then thrilled with the outcome.  I have a feeling Glamour will be a lot better at helping create a beauty themed box since Glamour represents all things beauty.  I don't want to get my hopes high, but I just can't help it! I'm excited about what Glamour might bring us.  If you don't currently subscribe to Birchbox and want in on this box make sure to sign up HERE before the end of June and help me get some Birchbox points in the process!
