My Beauty Army Box March 2012

When I had to make my choices earlier this month on what samples I would receive in my Beauty Army Box I was less then thrilled with the choices. I'm always after makeup and it was all skincare this time around.  When I actually got my box in hand and got to see the sizes of the items, especially when compared to my other subscription services this month I was pretty excited. I believe the 2.2 oz body shimmer is full size and the others are pretty generous for a "sample".  I also didn't realize how costly some of these items were and if you do the price per ounce this box is worth it's cost several times over.  Here's all the goodies I got..

SunFX Body Shimmer 2.2 fl oz.

Befine Food Skin Care Night Cream.  0.5 fl oz.

Eye Prep FX 0.16 fl oz.

cellCeuticals CerActive Moisture cream.  0.33 fl oz.

Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil

Babor Argan Cream. 1/2 oz.  The full size is $125 for 1.6 oz, so a 1/2 oz "sample" is pretty f'n awesome in my opinion!

Even though I didn't get any makeup like I prefer, this turned out to be a pretty sweet box in my opinion.  I plan to try a few things and sell or trade the few I probably won't use.  I'm happy with the March Beauty Army

L.A. Colors Little Black Book Sets Swatches & Reviews

I picked up these L.A. Colors Little Black Book sets from a Dollar Tree store a few days ago.  I grabbed one of each version on the display.  I've never really cared much for the brand, but they looked pretty decent and for only a buck each, I got sucked in again.

They have three versions, The Natural edition, The Smokey Edition, and The Glam Edition.  I took a few swatches from each palette and did a quick look on my eight and nine year old daughters because they are here and they were willing provided I let them each have a palette to keep for themselves afterwards. The looks aren't fancy or finished.  It's just a the eyeshadow over some Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper primer to give you an idea of how the colors look on the skin.  I didn't even use my own brushes, I used the sponge applicators provided in the kits.

------------------------------------------------
The Natural Edition

I swatched the 4 corner colors and they are shown over Lime Crime shadow helper.

You can see how much fall out it had in this picture.
----------------------------------------
The Smokey Edition

I swatched all 4 corners and did one of the darkest shade as well since it's a smokey set.

I showed the sponge brush in this picture so you could see how wonky they are.  It was this crooked before we even used it.

--------------------------------------
The Glam Edition

----------------------------------------

I don't love these.  The brushes suck and the colors are alright.  They aren't the smoothest and they aren't that great to blend but honestly they really aren't that bad considering they only cost a buck.  I have defiantly used worse that I have paid more for.  They were better then past palettes I have tried from the brand.  These are good for experimenting with, beginners, or giving to the kiddos like I did to keep them out of your expensive makeup.

My Birchbox March 2012 -Sarah

Birchbox had over 20 varieties this month.  You can find a complete list HERE.  This is what I got in my personal box...

A Tea Forte sampler pack with 3 tea bags.  I'm a huge fan of hot teas so I loved the fact that I got this!  I think I might loose the Cherry Marzipan flavor to Liz though.

2 Supergoop sunscreen wipes.  These seem super handy.  I like keeping sunscreen in my car for when I need it because I have a lot of tattoos and don't want the sun fading them.  Honestly I don't think I would ever buy these though because they are $34 for a single pack that has 40 wipes.  It looks a lot like a pack of baby wipes.  I just think $34 is a bit ridiculous for a single pack of sunscreen even if they are handy.

Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream.  As a fat girl who has had three kiddos, I don't think there is much hope for my stretch marks,  but I'll give it a try!

Nia 24 Skin Strengthening Complex

Color Club mini nail polish in "He loves me" pink.

Lulu Organics Hair Powder.  I'm pretty excited about this one.  I've been experimenting lately with dry shampoos and look forward to trying this.

I'm pretty happy with my Birchbox this month!  It had a lot of items that are relevant to me that I know I'll use.  It also had six items which work out to 60 Birchbox points after I review them. Score!

Beauty Army Now Has Referral Program & Badges

I got an email today from Beauty Army saying that I had earned a badge for being a three month member and it came with a coupon code for $10 off a $50 order. I guess the badges are new so I logged into my account and found the badges page.

There I found my one lonely badge that went from gray to a light pink. Not super impressive, but I did learn that they now have a referral program.  If you convince three people to join up, you get a free month.  They didn't have this when they started so I'm glad they finally put a referral program in place.  They also had badges for reviewing items and doing surveys.  You do five and you get a 15% off a full size order coupon code.

Honestly I have no intention of using my $10 off of $50 code.  Money is tight this month (like most months) and there's nothing on the site I can't live without at the moment.  I think free months for referrals are nice if you can talk three people into joining and the 15% off if nice because it doesn't look like you have to spend a set amount as long as the items ordered are full size.  I don't like this set up as much as I do the Birchbox points system, but I'm happy that Beauty Army is working more towards rewarding customers for loyalty.  Something I wish MyGlam would do. HINT HINT MyGlam!

Oh and if your interested in joining Beauty Army, help me out and join up HERE.

MyGlam Bag March 2012 "Meh"

I got my MyGlam bag in the mail today and ripped that baby open right away!  I didn't peek at any posts by other bloggers so it was a total surprise to me this month. And to honest, I was less then impressed with the March bag.  No full size goodies this month unless you consider the eye shadow brush full sized. It was all samples this month and here's what they were....

Murad Absolute Bronzing Boost.  0.17 FL OZ. /  5ml. From what I gather online the full size version is an ounce.

A makeup brush case with an eyeshadow brush. It's cute and the brush seems ok in quality but I haven't really tried it out yet.

Keracolor color enhancing leave in treatment sample.  You mix the two parts together and run it through your hair.  Sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to trying it.

Dermastore "gift card" for $25 off a purchase of $50.  I consider it more of a coupon code then a "gift card".  A real gift card doesn't require me to buy a bunch to use it. It came in a cute little baggie with two samples.  One for Murad Eye Lift Perfector and one for Pur-lisse daily moisturizer.

And that's what I got! Not bad items at all, but I think the first few months of full sized products raised my expectations of the service and quickly made it my favorite.  This bag was "meh" at best for me.  I'm not ready to let MyGlam go or anything like that, but I wasn't overly thrilled with this months goodies or the really small sizes.
