I've been seeing posts about Diamond Candles going across my Facebook wall like crazy the last few weeks, and knew right away I had to have one. Diamond Candles are candles with a little something special. After burning down a bit, you find a ring hidden in the wax that you pull out and wear. It has a lottery aspect to it because the ring could be worth anywhere for about $10 to $5000. These cost $24.95 plus $5.00 shipping per candle. I lucked out and got it for $12 plus shipping through a Plum District deal that's no longer active, but you can get a code for $5 off if you go through my LINK HERE before July 12th. If someone buys from my link, I believe I have the option of buying another candle at five bucks off too.
I ordered the scent Strawberry Bliss early on Thursday morning and it was on my porch on Saturday. Two days!!! First whiff it wasn't super strong but it smelled nice. About fifteen minutes into burning the smell got stronger and it was delightful! It made my whole living room smell so freakin good!
There's a gold sticker you can see from the outside that shows you about where the ring is placed in the candle.
The picture above shows how far it was melted one hour from when I lit it. About 2 1/2 hours into it I got impatient and dumped the melted wax out to speed up the process. Then I let it melt a little longer and dumped the wax again. Doing this obviously wastes a few inches of your candle and cuts down on your total burn time, but dammit I wanted that ring!!!
The foil finally peeking out! I should have let it melt down even more, but I was desperate to see what kind of ring I was getting.
I forced it out with some Victorian absinthe sugar tongs. I knew when I found these I would need them someday! That day was today!
And there's my ring in a waxy baggie.
I didn't strike gold or diamonds like I was hoping, but I have to admit that this is a really pretty costume ring. The inside is stamped "China". It doesn't fit my chubby man sized girl fingers, but still it's very pretty and I'm sure one of my kids or my sister will end up talking me out of it and will love wearing it. It did succeed it getting me sucked into loving these candles. I've had an obsession with Yankee Candles in the past purely because they smelled so good. These smell amazing and you get a ring and the possibility of a better ring for the same price. I hope to get more of these and hope I eventually do get lucky with one.
I didn't have my c/c with me at work and I swore I would buy one when I got home, but I forgot! I love the look of the candles and the ring idea is super unique!
ReplyDeleteIf you are a digger like me you can dump the wax in a tart burner or put the chunks of wax you dig up in a tart burner so that none goes to waste:)
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was litle I had a fairy castle shaped candle that similarly had a prize in it. I ended up getting a gold-plated goldfish pendant that I still have. I'm tempted to try this how.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know if you end up with a ring worth anything?
By the inside markings. Mine were both marked China so I knew they were costume. Now I just need to get one with a gold K mark!
