MyGlam January 2012 Hints & Spoliers

MyGlam has already posted pictures of the bag that will be used in January 2012, but a few hours ago on the MyGlam FaceBook page, they gave a new (blurry) sneak peek of what will be inside!

FB fans and members of MakeupTalk have identified them as Freeman Cucumber facial masks,

possibly Hot Ticket nail polish from TheBalm,

and the last seems to look a lot like Sheer Cover Concealer Duo by Leeza Gibbons.

(Stock Picture from the HSN website linked above)

If these picks turn out to be accurate we could end up with a pretty kick ass second bag, depending on the sizes we receive.  I was really happy about my first bag, and I've been anxiously awaiting the 2nd and will get pictures up as soon as it arrives!

1/4/2012 Edit to add: Looks like the guesses on the concealer were right, and looks like we will get the full size version that retails for about $20.  MyGlam posted this picture on FaceBook last night.

1/5/2012 Update to add.. They just announced our January bag will contain something from Wen haircare!!!  I'm really excited about this.  My sister has been using a knock off brand and loves the way this type of product makes her hair look and feel.

January 2012 Birchbox Spoliers

Birchbox already has a few (very few) links live for the January boxes.  No full box pictures yet, but it's still really early! Here's the few items that have made an appearance. Please note that these are subject to change since they are still a work in progress and aren't official yet.

Stila Smudge Sticks are currently showing in Box #'s 1, 3, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15.  No indication on size.

Tay Cucumber Day Moisturizer with Mango Butter or Tay Safflower Night Cream with Jojoba showing in boxes 13 and 14. Full size is pictured, I'm sure we will get sample sizes since these retail at about $60.

Hopefully they get more info up soon!

1/6/2012 Edit to add the new items that are appearing!  I got all excited when I checked in tonight to see that box 1 had updated to add Viva La Juicy and VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything lotion.  Unfortunatly box one is the only one currently updated, but hopefully the links for the other boxes become live again soon.

1/9/2012.  Box one now shows protein bars.  People are also reporting that they received Miracle Skin Transformer, a product I reviewed recently and loved!

Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer Review and GIVEAWAY (OVER)!!!!

The wonderful people at Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer recently sent me these three products from the line to try out for myself and review. All of the products have a base of naturally derived silicone and individually they offer other good stuff like antioxidants, SPF protection, vitamins, and active complexes.  They are free of petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, parabens, dyes, wax, mineral oils, and talc. They are made in the USA and NOT tested on animals! I've heard a lot of good stuff about the brand so I was pretty excited with the opportunity to try it myself.

So here's what I got and what I thought!

Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal Eye & Face in the light shade. Made to conceal darkness and redness and visibly diminish signs of aging with collagen and ceramides.  It has natural plant complex, anti-oxidants, and vitamins K, D, & F.

Nice smooth velvety texture, and this had a lot more tint then the other products from the line because it's intended to cover.  The tiniest little bit went a really long way and instantly brightened my eyes.  It made a great natural looking highlighter on my inner eye where generally I add a little white eyeshadow or liner. It easily hid dark circles I'd gotten from lack of sleep. This was a great base to wear on my eyes before eyeshadow application. It hid the nasty stuff and left me with a smooth bright canvas.

Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in "Glow Enhancer".  This is a tinted treatment body enhancer with UVA/UVB SPF 20.  It smooths contours and tones in a single application. It helps instantly diminish imperfections. It contains natural active complex.

Strait out of the tube it looks like it's pretty tinted but when applied it just leaves a nice smooth layer with faint hints of sparkle commonly referred to as adult glitter.  It's just enough sparkle to give your skin the appearance of a natural glow. It makes your overall skin appear and feel softer and more even.  You can layer on a little more to build up coverage and luminosity until you reach your desired effect.

Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 for the face and neck. It's a antioxidant hydrating tinted skin enhancer with UVA/UVB SPF 20.  It has active natural complex.

Of the three products I tested this was my very favorite! Like the other products this has a really soft velvety texture. You just smooth it on your face and neck and instantly your skin looks and feels softer and your flaws are lessened. It minimizes your pores and just gives you an overall look of healthy skin. While you can layer it for more coverage, this is not a full coverage product, which in my opinion gives you a much more natural appearance.  I don't like liquid foundations because I think for the most they look fake and blotchy so I rarely wear them.  This I could wear everyday. It lessened my redness, hide the large pores on my nose, made my face look less bumpy (I have very bumpy skin) and just made my face look soft and smooth.  It gave me an instant confidence boost, and it held up all day until I removed it at night before bed. The only downside to this is that I think I could go through this tube pretty quickly because I plan to wear it a lot!

And here's the best part of this review..... Miracle Skin Transformer is going to give one lucky reader of our little blog a free product.  And the winner gets to pick out the product they want to try most!! It could be one of the three that I reviewed here or a different product from the Miracle Skin Transformer website. There are lots of ways to enter, and the more you do, the more entries you get!  Please make sure you use the rafflecopter form below for each entry to be counted.

Please note the winners product of choice will not be mailed by us. I will submit the winners choice and information to the company who will ship it directly to the winner. This is open to US shipping addresses only. Winner will be contacted by e-mail and if they do not respond in 48 hours they forfeit and I will choose a new winner randomly with the rafflecopter software. I must receive all entries by January 1st 2011 11:59 pm EST and the odds of winning are determined by the number of entries received. No purchase necessary to enter.

(Please note this giveaway is over.  I have contacted the winner directly.)

Urban Decay "Sin" Eyeshadow Swatch Pictures

I have never been unhappy with anything I've gotten from Urban Decay so I was pretty happy to get this full size eyeshadow in the color "Sin" in my December My Glam bag.

(The cake doesn't look perfect because I've been using it like crazy since I got it)

Like all UD eyeshadows, this is smooth, sticks to the brush easily, and blends nicely.

This soft shimmer makes it a perfect highlighter color.

I don't think it's a color I would have picked out myself because I'm usually drawn to purples and really bright colors. This is a pretty shimmery soft tan like shade.  One of the reasons I'm really loving these sampling programs like MyGlam and Birchbox is because it takes me out of my familiar comfort zone and gives me the chance to try items and shades I might not have come across or picked on my own.  It makes me experiment and learn more about different looks and styles. This is a perfect example.  I would have never of bought this color but now I don't know how I ever went without having it in my eyeshadow collection.  It's a perfect highlighter shade and also looks really nice and soft and natural all alone.  In the past week I've worn it one way or another at least four times. I can totally understand why this is one of Urban Decays best sellers!

(Please ignore my brows that desperately need a wax)

My Second GoGo Girlfriend Box November? December? 2011 And Why I Cancelled

Last month I posted about my November box, but after talking to a few forum friends I realized that I actually got the October box even though I didn't get it until the 8th of November.  This month was even slower.  I was billed for this box on November 14th, and I didn't receive it until two days ago on December 16th.  That's just over a month after billing and an entire 5 weeks after my first box. I would have been billed a 3rd time before I even received my 2nd box, but I cancelled my subscription due to the delays 2 days before I would have been billed again.

I wasn't alone in the delays.  People were upset about it across several beauty forums I read, and one night I noticed a lot of comments popping up on Gogo's Facebook page from concerned members who also had not received the November boxes.  Those comments and questions were quickly deleted by GoGo staff.  I don't think the comments were very negative, they just voiced concern but I guess GoGo wasn't interested in having anyone see the comments that reflected less then perfect service. This could of been an opportunity for GoGo to show off great customer service and restore the faith of those that worried but instead they pushed it under the rug.  They did make a comment to the effect of "Please direct any concerns by emailing customer service".  I did that.  I sent a friendly "I'm curious about the status of my shipment" email. I never got a response.

But my box did finally come and it seemed to have a lot less then my first box that I was actually pretty happy about. This is what I got in this months (My second box)....

Oluv Fresh Olive Fresh Body Scrub

Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant Towlette.  I actually really wanted to try these so I was happy to get one.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Sample Vial

Blossoms Eyeshadow in a green color.

Elf smudge brush from the $1 line.

Camille Beckman sample size set in Rosewater.  Smells really nice!

Individually I like these items.  It just didn't seem like much for the $12.99 monthly fee, and I was far from satisfied with ship times and (lack of) customer service.  I don't necessarily think  GoGo is bad, but they got behind and with so many great beauty subscription service popping up to choose from, I'm going to go with the ones that have better service and items that I like better like Birchbox and MyGlam. If they stepped it up and improved I'd go back but not until I see hard evidence of that actually happening.

My Free Mailbox! (Allure Essie & CoverGirl Wins)

I wouldn't say I enter a lot of contests, but when one comes up on a website or FaceBook page for a brand that I like, I do.  I rarely win, but lady luck was blowing kisses at my mailbox this week because I didn't just get one, I got 2 contest goodies in the mail this week.

The first thing I got a few days ago was this Essie nail polish in the color "Beauty Reporter" which is a wine like red color.  According to the note included I won this from a contest I entered on Allure's website in October.  Allure seems like they are always running great contests on health and beauty items and for awhile (around October apparently) I was entering a lot of them.  Lately I slowed down because I got a pissy "I'm never going to won these silly contests" attitude.  Guess they proved me wrong and in a in a delightful way at that.  I' going to be clicking the enter button on Allure a lot more now! (And making sure to blog it when they run good contests!) Looks like they have a lot of good ones coming up in early January.

Today in the mail I got a little goodie pack that I won on CoverGirls FaceBook page.  I think I "liked" the page in the first place to get a coupon. (Yea I'm a crazy couponer) Guess I got away with a lot more then the $2 off coupon I was after initially.  The pack they sent me today had a full size  Covergirl Smoky Shadow Blast in Bronze Fire, a sample natureluxe foundation in Aspen and Maple, and another coupon!

So the moral of this blog post is...Enter those contests!  If I can get lucky then anyone can.
