Sugar Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss

I just wanted to do a quick review of one of my favorite new cosmetic goodies, this mini lipgloss from Sugar Cosmetics.  Liz had bought a lot of mixed cosmetic goodies from eBay and gave me this mini gloss out of the lot.  I threw it on my keychain and gave it a try.  I fell in love with it right away! Normally I’m not super into gloss but I think this is changing me around.  It’s goes on easily with it’s little felt tipped applicator and leaves my lips nice and moisturized with no sticky or tacky feeling.  And my favorite part….. It’s sooooooo yummy! For hours after I apply I taste this yummy sweet flavor.  I’m not sure what flavor it is exactly, but it’s a nice light sweet sugary taste that I love.  It’s sold me on Sugar Cosmetics and I’ve already ordered more.  On Sephora they are currently half off!  I hope the rest of the line is as great as this lip gloss was because right now I’m loving the brand.

E.L.F. Get the Look Set in Purple Perfection

The last time I went shopping on E.L.F. and stumbled across this get the look set called “Purple Perfection” I knew I had to give it a try.  95% of the time when I wear make up it involves purple eyeshadow so I knew this was a look I’d like. The sets are supposed to have everything needed to complete a look with step by step instructions. The instructions came in the form of print on the back of the box.  Honestly they were pretty vague.  In my opinion they could have used a little more detail or of been illustrated better.  But I gave it a go anyways following the directions as closely as I could.

So I started out with the cream colored highlight shade and applied it to the corners of my eyes, followed by the other two shades in the areas they stated.  I was a bit disappointed in the coverage the eye shadow provided.  The picture shows a girl with vibrant purple shades and highlights.  I ended up with a barely there glimmer of color.  I think it may have shown better had I used an eyeshadow primer and really caked on the shadow, but alone it was very light.

The one thing I did like about applying the shadow was the eye shadow brush they provided.  I kind of expected that because I usually love E.L.F. brushes and this was no exception.  It felt wonderful and blended beautifully.

The shadow was followed with false lashes, liner and mascara.  The lashes were fine.  The purple liner was “meh”. It went on alright.  Not as smoothly or as dark as I prefer but still alright.  The mascara was probably my favorite item that came with the kit.  It’s a  double ended tube. One had basic mascara, the other waterproof.  I went with basic.  It went on smoothly and easily and left my lashes thicker and dark black. It didn’t clump or give me spider eyes.  Just perfect mascara coverage.

Overall it’s an alright set.  Nothing special and nothing horrible about it.  You really can’t beat the price of $7 for the entire set.  In the future I’ll probably go back to buying individual items on E.L.F., but this allowed me to try a few things new out.

Bare Escentuals Prime Time Eyelid Primer

I bought this sample kit at Sephora that came with Bare Escentuals Prime Time foundation and eye primer to try out. The foundation primer is kinda weird and it’s like rubbing silicone on your face. It did make my face smooth for the foundation and after it dried it didn’t feel as odd. I’m not sure if it made my foundation last longer though. I’ll have to try it out again and get back to you. I am however amazed by the eye primer. I was outside all day waiting in the hot sun and sweating, went into a mosh pit and got so sweaty my hair was dripping, and then sat in the rain for a little bit after that. My BE Rocker Eye shadows that are black didn’t budge…at all. Even after I woke up the next morning it didn’t look bad either. I’m in love with it. I will say that when applying your shadows after applying the primer can be a little difficult. You have to be very precise because once you stick it on there, it’s on there for good. Right now I’m only going to use this stuff for special occasions and what not.

Stila Creme Bouquet “Eau De Parfum” Roll-On Perfume

I’ve been going a little crazy with swapping on Make Up Alley lately, and one of my favorite things I received was this Stila Creme Bouquet roll-on.

For a long time I was anti perfume in general. I’m very picky with scents, and most perfumes I despise or get headaches from. Up until last year, I don’t think I’ve worn real perfume since I was 16.  I have used body sprays because they were weaker then perfume and had a lot of fruity smells which I prefer, but not real perfumes. That pattern changed sometime last year when I received a sample of Stila Jade Blossom as a Sephora sample. I quickly fell in love with the scent and it instantly became my signature smell.  The large bottle I bought of it was $50 and well worth it to me finding a perfume I loved after such a log period of perfume hate.

I’m slowly finding out that all Stila perfumes are agreeable with me.  Someone sent me a sample of Stila’s Mandarin Mist and although I didn’t like it as much as I did my Jade Blossom, I did like the scent.  That brings me to my newest Stila scent love, Creme Bouquet.

I’ve been curious wondering what this smelled like since it’s been out, but not curious enough to take the plunge and order it from Sephora because generally I don’t fall for purely floral scents.  Most remind me of bad canned air fresheners. When someone asked me to swap on make up alley, and I saw it on her list of items she was offering for swap I knew this was my chance.  We traded and a few days ago it arrived in my mail box.  I really expected to try it out, blog it, and trade it back out again.  First sniff and I thought it was a nice smell, but didn’t instantly love it.  I rolled it on my wrists and went back to going about my business.  Reaching up while typing I found myself stopping to sniff my wrists.  After it dried I could really tell what it smelled like.  I know its hard to describe smells in text, but the best way I can describe it is…..  If it were possible to make a yummy floral ice cream cone, that cone would smell like this perfume.  Whatever in it gives it that creamy smell, takes a floral scent and makes it smell delicious.   And now I have another Stila scent to ad to my new collection of favorites.

TiGi Bed Head Big Fat Fun Eye Liner and Eyes Love It Mascara

So I think I have found a new staple. It’s TiGi Bed Head Big Fat Fun eyeliner in the color Black Smudgie.

100_1076

I love it ! It’s really soft and goes on so smooth yet doesn’t crumple. It’s really nice rich black too. I found it to be really great on the water line. Goes on nice and thick and didn’t budge during the day. On the other end there is a really great smudger that’s great for creating that smoky or rocker eye look. I’ve only used this one day and I love it! Here are some pics of one smudged and one not smudged.

I also tried out TiGi Bed Head Eyes Love It ! Mascara in the color black.

I give this one a thumbs up too. I goes on really nice and wasn’t clumpy at all. Great more so for length and not so much for volume. I would use this more as an everyday mascara instead of a going out on the town one.  Also it smelled great ! It’s a really nice floral scent, and I’m more of a fruity scent type of girl. Who would have thought that a hair care company could make great cosmetics too ?

Back to Basics Fresh Mint

When I was 18 my then best friend became a hair dresser so I would hang out at the salon she worked at.  Sniffing shampoos while I was there I found Back to Basics and fell in love with a raspberry scent.  I bought a set of shampoo and conditioner and I believe that was the very first salon quality hair care I ever started using on a regular basis.

Now more then 10 years later I have since slipped away from the brand until now.  My mom brought me over a huge set of back to basics “Fresh Mint” shampoo and conditioner.  One sniff and I was instantly drawn back in.  I love minty smells, and usually the closest thing you get to mint scent in hair care are things scented with tea tree oil.  I love the scent of tea tree oil, but not quite as much as I do true minty smells.  And “fresh mint” smells so good you almost want to taste it.

This cleans and conditions nicely and works well as a daily shampoo, but my favorite part is the way it leaves my hair smelling.

Benefit Color Plump - Plumping Lip Color in Yoo Hoo

I received this benefit color plump lipcolor via a trade on Make Up Alley.  It’s a nice pink shade called “Yoo Hoo”.  So lets take a look!

It comes in a cute package, a basic shiny box with a cute picture of a girl in retro glasses.  I’m a sucker for that retro look. If I ever come to need glasses it’s so going to be a nice pair of cat eyes!

plumpers-008

Inside you find a multi-lingual black sheet.  I’m not sure it has any real purpose. One side has the item name, and the backside just has a quick description of what the product is similar to what you would find on a website selling it.

plumpers-010

The lipstick itself is is in a thick pencil.  I would say it’s about as thick as a dime circumference wise.

plumpers-012

It applies nicely and smoothly.  I found the pencil easier to get on more precise then a typical lipstick tube.  I like the color and moisture level.  As for plumping effect..not so much.  I didn’t feel this gave me anymore of a plumped look then any other normal lipstick would.  Not nearly as much of an effect as I had gotten from Too Faced’s lip injection.  Then again, this doesn’t involve any pain or stinging.

plumpers-004

Would I use this again? Sure would! But I’ll use it again for the color and ease of application, not the plumpness level it provides.

If you have ever heard the phrase “Beauty is Pain” and understand what it means you might have tried Too Faced’s Lip Injection lip plumping gloss.

Sometime around last year everyone was talking about DuWop’s Lip Venom and plumping glosses in general.  Wanting to know what all of the excitment was about, on a trip to Sephora I bought a tube of  Too Faced Lip Injection lip plumping gloss.  Rather then explain the experience that it gave me then, and still gives me now, Lets go on a little pictorial journey!

It starts out looking like any old innocent lip gloss, all cute and with a hint of pink.

plumpers-0221

It even has a nice little brush tip to apply it.  I prefer these over the hard fuzzy ones most glosses have.

plumpers-028

You apply and think to yourself “This really isn’t so bad at all”.  It’s just a little tingle!

plumpers-029

Then it sets in! That little tingle turns into a big tingle.  A tingle that I might even call a burning feeling for a few minutes.  You want to rub it off but know if you do, you won’t get those Angelia Jolie lips you were hoping for. So you wait it out.

plumpers-033

And finally after 10-15 minutes the tingle goes away and your left with the closest thing you’ll ever get to DSL’s without surgery!

plump-003

So yea it stings like hell for a few minutes, but if you want the end result of fuller darker lips it’s really worth it.  And a cool thing about this I’ve noticed, if you aren’t really into the gloss look you can wipe it off after it’s finished working and put on your favorite lipstick. It’s something I always keep in my make up case and one of my favorite lip items.  Give it a shot!
